What you can expect from Christ the King Lutheran Church
A guide to the opportunities and benefits of membership in Christ the King.
- The Good News of Jesus Christ will be preached and Baptism and the Lord's Supper celebrated, based on the Holy Scripture.
- Worship will use a style of friendly formality, blending time-tested traditions with a printed order of worship.
- Worship and church life will be "family friendly." Worship includes a children's bulletin, Sunday school choir, children's sermons and a blessing for youngsters during Communion. A nursery is provided from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
- Sermons and Bible classes will provide direction and meaning for life centered in Jesus Christ.
- Christian education will be offered to all people. Sunday school, Junior Confirmation and Adult Bible classes on Sunday morning and throughout the week.
- Programs will be offered in music, youth, service and social activities. These will provide opportunities to learn and grow.
- The pastors will serve you in times of need (hospitalization, tragedy, death) as well as in times of joy (birth, weddings, etc.).
- Printed resources will be available for your personal devotions, Bible study and Christian growth.
We expect that our members:
- will attend worship regularly. Offering our praise and thanksgiving to God is a prime reason for a church. When members are not at worship for several weeks, they are personally contacted to let them know they have been missed. Our members are part of our Christian family.
- are interested in growing in their Christian faith and knowledge. We invite members to Christian education classes as well as personal Bible study guides.
- are looking for ways to serve the Lord through our church family. New members are surveyed to learn their interest in a wide range of volunteer tasks. Invitations are extended to serve, but a response of "not right now" also is respected.
- want the opportunity to support the church through their offerings. Offering envelopes are provided to members. Members are encouraged to give a percentage, rather than a set amount of their income. We believe St. Paul's words, "The Lord loves a cheerful giver." Individual offerings are recorded by the financial secretary (the only member who knows what members contribute) and reported privately to members each year
- wish to share in making important decisions. All communicant members are invited to vote and share in the decision making process in quarterly parish meetings. New members can serve in a number of elected positions.
Expectations are an important part of life. If you have further questions about expectations, please ask one of the pastors.
